What happened
Uber piloted OpenAI's ChatGPT Work agent with 1,000 employees earlier in 2026 and is now rolling it out to its whole workforce of about 30,000. TechCrunch reports about 80% of pilot users were non-engineers, using it for multi-step work such as research, data analysis and presentations. Uber did not disclose what it is spending and said it will track usage and outcomes. This is separate from the Uber voice booking agent.
