What happened
PaidLeave.ai is a generative AI chatbot from the nonprofit Moms First that helps parents and employers understand and apply for state paid family leave. It launched as a New York pilot in December 2023 with support from OpenAI and others. In September 2024 Moms First expanded it to all nine states plus Washington DC with live paid family leave programs. Moms First says fewer than five percent of eligible workers claim these benefits, largely because of low awareness and complicated applications.
