What happened
The CRA runs a public GenAI chatbot, still labelled a beta, that answers from CRA pages on Canada.ca. A February 25, 2026 minister briefing binder for the Standing Committee on Public Accounts says that on November 7, 2025 the chatbot's scope was expanded and that it handled 277K sessions in the 100-day period. The same binder says answer accuracy is tested using the Auditor General's methodology, and that the CRA knows the beta still has limits, including incomplete answers when a question sits outside its pages.
