What happened
On September 9, 2026 Governor Newsom introduced AskCA, an AI assistant organized around life events such as finding a job or recovering from a disaster, and invited Californians to join the pilot. The Office of Data and Innovation built its knowledge base with Anthropic's Claude. CalHR is the first department to use the same engine, for a job skills matching feature on CalCareers launching September 30.
