What happened
The White House and GSA launched America.gov on Sept. 29, 2026 as an AI chat front door to federal information, built from more than 29,000 government websites. U.S. Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia told CNBC it is powered by Google Gemini and xAI Grok. It needs no account today, and the site promises forms, applications and renewals by early 2027. AP reported that some early answers contradicted administration talking points.
